South Australian Freelance Photographer Pete Dobré presents his seventeenth book, which displays his passion for the Murray River.

Pete loves to capture the natural beauty of this waterway, as it flows from its source on the alpine slopes of New South Wales, to the Southern Ocean, in South Australia.

As a child, Pete loved the river. He often visited his grandfather's property near Barmera, South Australia. The backwaters of the Murray cut through the property and Pete spent much time exploring this region.

These graphic photographs of the Murray creatively blend colours, textures, wildlife and reflections of the river. Sunrise and sunset are magnificent times on this waterway and present special moments.

Appreciate the history of the Murray, when the river was a busy, trade route. Enjoy the paddle-steamers, in the photographic journey of the Murray River.

For the 35mm images, Pete used Nikon F90x and F100 cameras. Pete used a Mamiya 645D for the medium format images and for the panoramic images, Pete used a Fuji Panoramic 6 x 17 and a Noblex 6 x 12 camera, together with Fuji Velvia film. He values the sharp images captured on his cameras, as well as the strong colour saturation and fine grain of the film.

In this book Pete hopes the Murray will delight you, with the natural scapes lining the river, showing the endless beauty of creation. May the images inspire you to preserve this great waterway, for the Murray River's future is in our hands. We can make a difference, to protect and improve this natural asset. We encourage you to 'blaze the Murray River trail,' as you relax, enjoy and proudly appreciate our natural heritage.
